The IFS David Wood Memorial Trophy Races on Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th September at Bishopscourt Racing Circuit, now in our new race format for the event. A first for Ulster & Irish short circuit Championship event having 4 Championship races in a single weekend. Saturday 16th @ 9am 2 x Practice sessions for all classes and from 2pm a full set of Championship sprint races. Sunday 17th @ 9am a 24 Championship race program which should conclude at approx. 5pm with a podium prize presentation afterwards.
Supersport 600 class again take the headlines as the feature event under the Pirelli Tyres IFS David Wood Memorial Trophy title.
Irish supersport racing over the last couple of seasons has produced some of the best racing you ever see and come the race weekend we are sure these competitors will once again deliver lap record breaking performances. The Pirelli IFS Supersport class will also have our unique ‘’Sail to Pole’’ with Nutt Travel qualifying shoot out with the fastest nine competitors from timed practice get 6 minutes to go for the Pole Position. 2016 Irish Supersport Champion Jason Lynn on Walter Bells Suzuki will be trying to regain the pole like he did in 2016. Aaron Clifford 2016 IFS David Wood Memorial Trophy Winner, Hot Korrie McGreevy, Ross Patterson, Mark Conlon, Aaron Armstrong and Christian Elkin will all surely be in the mix!
Rea Timber Craft of Crumlin, Charles Hurst Hyundai Dundonald provide the MCRRCI Endeavour Award, this award is for a promising club member who has shown great improvement in 2017 and trying hard in their race class. We can proudly announce our total prize fund for the event is £10,000
The IFS Pirelli Tyres Supersport class has a healthy £3500 prize fund which the overall winner will pick up the IFS David Wood Memorial Trophy + £1500+ a set of Pirelli Tyres, 2nd place collecting £700 and a rear tyre, 3rd £500 plus a front tyre, 4th – 10th have cash prizes also.
The Arai Helmet Man of the Meeting award which the winner will receive a New Arai helmet via Moto-Direct. The Motor Cycle Road Racing Club of Ireland Ltd are proud to see this event grow each year which we hope is a fitting tribute to David Wood, we are looking forward to the event on the 16th & 17th September at Bishopscourt Racing Circuit, Downpatrick.
We expect a large entry of Irelands top Short Circuit competitors plus the Road Racers. Moto Direct will also be providing a free Arai Helmet service and advice at the event. Ernie Coates will have his paddock services and Pirelli tyre fitting available as always.
Alan Patterson and Ivan McKillop will also provide their services. Spectators can enjoy the weekend event for only £10 admission payable at the gate. Full catering service is available on site, toilet blocks around the circuit. Come along and mingle in the paddock with the riders. Friday evening until Sunday camping/caravan are welcome at admission cost.
