Buildbase BMW’s Richard Cooper will start the opening MCE British Superbike race at Cadwell Park from the front row, after setting a time that was under lap record pace during qualifying.

The diminutive racer clocked a 1’26.162 to place his S1000RR on the third spot on the grid at the Lincolnshire track. Cooper admitted that he gave it everything he had, and it showed today.

His younger team-mate, Lee Jackson was close to pipping him to the post and in the end only one tenth of a second separated the pair, with Jackson starting from P4 for race one tomorrow.

Cooper has been setting consistently fast times all race weekend, and hopes he can emulate his recent good form in the double-header on Monday.

“I am over the moon to do what we did, those times a 26.1 - that was everything I had,” said Cooper, speaking at the track after qualifying at Cadwell Park.

“If those boys were going to beat it, it was going to take something special. Leon did something special, but we are on the front row and we are in the ball park and we have been all weekend and there is no reason why we cant be here tomorrow.”
