Ducati’s Cal Crutchlow says he was amazed he finished the Qatar MotoGP round at all as his transponder failed, the dash stopped working and, as a result, the electronics on his GP14 strategies failed from lap five onwards with the bike ‘behaving strangely’ – but he still managed to grab sixth place. The Ducati man was bouncing and rocking the bike as he went over the line but took great pains to point out the bike didn’t run out of fuel. He had crashed in warm-up and his team had only a couple of hours to totally re-build the number one bike “How I managed to make it to the line I don’t know but we didn’t run out of fuel. The transponder went off and completely destroyed the electronics for the whole race,” said Crutchlow. “It’s not a Ducati part and I made it to the line by inches rocking the bike. It was disappointing from that aspect but we needed to finish the race and sixth is not a bad result. The lap times at the start were not so bad. We did a good job in the race and to hang in there from lap six was not so bad.”
