Chesaux championship leader after Silverstone
01/01/1970
Bastien Chesaux has given his European Superstock 600 title changes a massive boost this weekend by finishing second in today’s second heat. The EAB Ten Kate Junior Team rider was able to run away with Christian Gamarino in the opening laps on a very slippery and tricky Silverstone and was in the lead a couple of times. Chesaux was even very close to his first European Superstock 600 victory, but Gamarino passed him at the end of the very last lap. It was his fifth podium of 2013.
Chesaux ended third in yesterday’s first race of the World Superbike weekend at Silverstone. The EAB Ten Kate Junior Team rider started from sixth, after an impressive final qualification. Also during the race, Chesaux made a lot of progress. Halfway through, the Swiss was in fourth place within one second of the leaders. His lap times were on that moment even faster as the three riders in front of him. A crash of Gauthier Duwelz promoted Chesaux to third.
With three races on the schedule, Chesaux is the new championship leader with 100 points, eight over Gamarino.
