Chesaux eighth in flooded Monza as McFadden moves on

Bastien Chesaux has scored an eighth place in yesterday’s wet European Superstock 600 race at Autodromo Nazionale Monza in the north of Italy. The start was delayed 45 minutes by heavy rain and the shortened nine lap race was declared wet by the race direction. Conditions were unpredictable as it was still raining minutes before the red lights went out. Chesaux had a decent start and was ninth after the first lap. With conditions much worse halfway through the race, Chesaux had a few problems, like almost everyone, and lost some time to the leaders and crossed the finish line in eighth place. The EAB Ten Kate Junior Team rider is still second in the championship, close to point’s leader Gauthier Duwelz (Yamaha) from Belgium.
Bastien Chesaux: “What a race… It was amazing to see how quickly conditions can change at Monza. At once, the track was full of water. The grip was so so, and that made it easy to make a mistake. I had a good start and I was in the leading group. But after four laps, I struggled at some points with the bike so I lost a little confidence. My target was to score points, but I´m still disappointed. I had to push more to stay in fifth position. Now it's time to win races, so I have to trust more on myself.”
Team manager Manuel Cappelletti: “I'd like to thank David Mcfadden for his commitment and I'm sorry that it didn't work out as he is a good guy and a good racer. After Assen we decided together that it was better to split up. These decisions are always difficult but sometimes it's better for both parties.”
