Hopkins remains at Ducati for Thruxton BSB round
01/01/1970
Lloyds British Moto Rapido Ducati have today confirmed that John Hopkins will ride at their local MCE British Superbike round at Thruxton standing in for the still injured Jakub Smrz.
Following the operation to repair a damaged thumb joint after the Snetterton crash, Smrz has this week been again assessed and the delicate nature of the operation and repair means there is a serious risk should he incur any additional damage.
“After speaking with Jakub and his medical team today the risk for him riding with such an injury is too high to take. Whilst his hand feels strong now any further damage would cause huge complications for him,” said team boss Steve Moore.
“So for our local round at Thruxton, John will continue on the Ducati. The plan past Thruxton will be finalised soon, we are exploring options now and wish Jakub a strong and swift recovery.”
