Kennedy Cements 7th In World Championship With Gutsy Turkish Ride
01/01/1970
The Turkish round of the World Supersport championship at the Intercity Park circuit happened this weekend with Rivamoto Honda keen to replicate their success from previous rounds.
Jack Kennedy improved with his last lap effors in qualifying and after a strong showing in the morning warm up session the scene was set.
Kennedy was once again right in the mix. The Dublin based charger is not shy of pushing hard and after a not so good start was once again responsible for some decisive moves as the race progressed.
As the race progressed Jack suffered a little with the loss of grip but clung on to claim yet another impressive 9th place finish in his debut World Championship season at another new track.
The results today testament to the work put in by the entire Rivamoto squad and with two rounds of the 2013 championship remaining, the team look eagerly ahead to the next round in France. Another circuit, another challenge but another chance to shine.
Today’s result cement Jack in 7th position overall in the World Supersport championship.
Jack Kennedy – 9th position: “Again, not one of my best starts and this has been making life so much harder for me in the last couple of races. It’s so frustrating trying to get through the pack while the front group break away. I settled in to a good pace mid race when it spread out and made some progress, but just lacked some grip near the end and to get any further. On a positive note it was another top ten and I closed in on sixth place in the Championship. I would’ve liked to be able to grab more points for the team and I, as they worked very hard over the weekend and really I appreciate their support.”
Jeremy McWilliams – Team Manager: “This has to be our biggest challenge to date. The track is incredibly technical and we had limited time to learn it. Jack did a good job in damage limitation for his Championship and the focus now is to keep his advantage over some experienced riders behind him. We have another couple of new tracks coming up but that doesn’t seem to deter him.”
