Smith's Triumph rider Glen Richards says he is in better shape to challenge for top honours at this weekend's Silverstone World Supersport round after more rest and some extra physio when he attended the Suzuka Eight-Hours as Honda Legends race manager.

Richards dented the top of his humerus during a crash at Knockhill and has been slowly working his way back to fitness. The 'nearly 40-year-old' says he isn't at 100 per cent but he is better than he was at Brands Hatch for the last Motorpoint British Supersport round.

"My arm is a lot better than it was at Brands Hatch but I'm still not 100 per cent. I had some good physio at Suzuka and I'm in better shape, so we will just have to get out there and see how it is," said Richards, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

"I suppose I'm a bit of a marked man after getting on the front row at Donington but we won't know how the bike will fare on top speed until we're on track.

"We will run with our standard British Supersport ECU with no traction control because it is difficult to switch and develop between the two, so we will run with what we usually use. I'm looking forward to it."
