The World Superbikes have not been to Laguna Seca track since 2004. Between 2008 and 2012 the American round of the Superbike championship was held at the Salt Lake City circuit, but from this year the riders return to the track that boasts the spectacular and famous downhill corner knows as the “Corkscrew”. Coming straight on the back of the Istanbul event, the Althea Racing team and Davide Giugliano now face another brand new track, though the rider has demonstrated that he can quickly get to grips with new circuits. For the first time in Superbike history the two races will take place on two different days, with Race 1 taking place on Saturday afternoon, after the Superpole and Race 2 scheduled for the following day, Sunday.

Davide Giugliano: “I’ve only seen the Laguna Seca track on TV and know it for its famous “Corkscrew” corner. It looks like a spectacular track, fast and varied, with undulating sections. I hope to learn it as quickly as possible, because the two qualifying sessions are on Friday, while Saturday we have the Superpole and the race. So it’s really important to work quickly to find a good set-up for our Aprilia, though it won’t be easy seeing as we have no data of course. In recent rounds we’ve had mixed results and also for this reason I want to do all I can to perform as well as possible in these last three rounds of the 2013 season and score some good results.”
