Tyco BMW’s Ian Hutchinson has edged closer to the 130mph mark in this evening’s TT 2017 practice, taking his Superstock-spec S1000RR to 129.535mph after retiring the Superbike at Governor’s Dip.

The Bingley man had been on target for another rapid lap on the Superbike but he didn’t make back to the pits. Hutchinson then went out for a standing-start lap on the Stock machine and rocketed to the top of the overall timesheet, edging out Bruce Anstey who had previously put in a 129.212 flying lap on the Honda RC213V-S Superbike after trying a new rear shock.

Veteran Michael Rutter ended in second place on the Bathams/SMT BMW, setting a 128.588mph to edge out Dean Harrison’s Silicone Kawasaki by one second after he had set a 128.477mph lap.

Peter Hickman had trailed Superbike-mounted Hutchinson for his first lap and set a 128.028 and then followed it up with a 127.630 for fourth place while Dan Kneen, who stopped early in the session at Quarterbridge, was fifth with a 127.232.

Michael Dunlop set a 125.328 on his Suzuki, just ahead of Derek Sheils, Martin Jessopp and Horst Saiger.
